"There's nothing real down here, Lee! Least of all me!"

True West tells the story of two brothers, one a screenwriter, the other a drifter and petty thief. Set in southern California, the coyotes howl and the crickets chirp while each brother tries to make something of his own life. Each brother is secretly jealous of the other's lifestyle while trying to make it with his own. When the two are forced to switch places, the result is frightening and brutally funny, and the realism of everything the two men have ever known is shattered.
